S teve Ballantyne has 15 years experience in the in oil & gas industry. Initially electronic engineering biased, Steve moved into electro-mechanical & hydraulic systems with a top-tier oil service company and shifted focus to reliability, maintainability & risk reduction in 2004 while in a global role. Asset Integrity then became a focus in 2009 and a significant game-changer in 2010 post-Macondo.

Steve has since held numerous key positions within operators & EPC’s, was recently a partner in the successful establishment of a risk engineering consultancy for the North Sea market, and is currently active in developing innovative methods of root-cause analysis for barrier health improvement.

Steve is about to complete the MSc Asset Integrity Management programme at RGU and has been approached to consider a lecturing role in asset integrity. He is an active member of the Energy Institute and is working towards CEng status.

Dave Noble’s academic background is in Electronics and Electrical Engineering, but over the last 23 years in the oil and gas industry he has developed a strong understanding and enjoyed a proven track record in the field of Maintenance and Sustaining engineering, Research and Development, Global Product Reliability Engineering, for a major oil field service provider.

During his tenure in Houston R&D Dave worked with discipline scientists and design engineers and ultimately developed Global Repair and Maintenance strategies, and manufacturing assembly manuals, and from this became a recognised global subject matter expert for the industry leading Nuclear Logging product line. Dave also conducted audits of satellite facilities and co-authored & delivered training courses.

Since 2010, Dave has been integrated into the upstream/downstream Asset Integrity Management side of the industry where he acted initially as senior consultant and Projects Principal. Further Dave has a wide and extensive experience in creating open and transparent Technical proposals and CTR work breakdown structures for the complete spectrum of Asset Integrity work scopes, but also bespoke R&D projects for specific client needs.
